The Daniel Island School

The Daniel Island School was opened in August 2006 and serves 1,400 students in grades K through 8th each year. This modern facility offers the latest in technology and space utilization for its students. The school supports 65 homeroom classes, related arts, and special education programs. The student/teacher ratio for the Daniel Island School is 23:1, making classroom sizes small and allowing teachers to truly focus on each student’s individual needs.

Bishop England High School

Bishop England is Daniel Island’s diocesan Roman Catholic private high school. Bishop England serves 730 students each year and is the largest private high school in the state. The school was founded in 1915 and was originally located on Calhoun Street in downtown Charleston until it moved to Daniel Island in 1998. Bishop England is known for its rigorous curriculum, its outstanding athletics program, and boasts SAT and ACT scores that are well above the national and state average.

Daniel Island Academy was founded in 2004 and offers preschool classes for children 12 months through Pre-K and serves 280 students each year. They offer full-day, half-day, and Mother’s Morning Out programs. The teacher to student ratio is one of the best which ensures that you’re little one receives quality care and education during their time at Daniel Island Academy. Most classes do not exceed more than 12 students per teacher.

Philip Simmons High School

Welcome to the newest high school in the Berkeley County area, Philip Simmons High School! The 2017 academic year marks the first year for this high school and it will serve the students of Daniel Island, Thomas Island, and the Cainhoy Peninsula. Prior to the completion of Philip Simmons, students were zoned to attend Hanahan High School. This beautiful campus is situated on a sprawling 107 acres of land and the school has 219,000 sqft. Philip Simmons High School will offer a selection of Honors and AP classes, JROTC, and various STEM classes. Philip Simmons will have buses to transport students to and from their homes on Daniel Island.
