Neighborhoods in James Island

Cross over the James Island Connector or Maybank Highway and you’ll be transported into the relaxed world of James Island. The town of James Island is a beautiful, unique island in Charleston that’s rich with history and a bright future. Nestled among the marsh and meandering Stono and Folly rivers, James Island exudes a beach loving attitude and an embracing of the slower way of life.

Around the island you’ll find many wonderful neighborhoods that offer many options for any buyer. Whether you’re looking at new construction, resales, or fixer uppers, James Island offers them all! We’ve rounded up some of our favorite neighborhoods from around the island:

Freeman’s Point

 

 

Tucked away surrounded by marsh and gorgeous trees, you’ll discover Freeman’s Point. The Preserve at Dills Bluff

 

Built by Pulte Homes, The Preserve at Dills Bluff is a collection of luxury, executive homes with high-end features. Seaside Plantation

 

Located off of Secessionville Road, Seaside Plantation is a collection of townhomes and single family homes priced from the $300’s to $1 million plus. Seaside is one of the largest subdivisions on the island and include subsections including Egrets Pointe, Majestic Oaks, Pemberton, Planters Trace, and Seaside Estates. Riverland Terrace

 

Developed in 1925, Riverland Terrace is one of James Island’s oldest neighborhoods and is full of historical charm. Located just 10 minutes from downtown Charleston along the Wappoo Creek and inland highway, this neighborhood is best known for its homes rich in 1950s character. Residents can enjoy a number of amenities including a public boat landing, close proximity to the Charleston Municipal Golf Course, playground, restaurants, and numerous antique shops.

As you enter the historic neighborhood, you’ll be wowed by the 73 live oak trees that are believed to be over 100 years old. Fort Pemberton, a Civil War fortification built in 1862, remains in the neighborhood today.
