It has been fun to create our own family traditions for holidays and for “every-days.” One of our favorite Christmas traditions is to open matching pajamas on the night we decorate the tree. As Colin gets bigger, these become harder to find. However, we found these in October and knew the boys would love them! They look a little like the Polar Express train 🙂
This season has been pretty hectic. The Elf on the Shelf just made his appearance this weekend. The tree was a week late. 80 lights in my garland unexpectedly went out and it seems that white lights are scarce this late in the season. Gifts still need to be wrapped and Christmas cards just went out this week.
But… the time is sweet and we treasure it. We’ve experienced a cold snap in Charleston and it has felt very much like Christmas should feel. We’ve snuggled up in blankets and played games in front of the fire with only the Christmas tree for light. We had our traditional family ornament exchange. We went to James Island County Park to view the lights. We will watch “Elf” this weekend while drinking hot chocolate and eating pizza.
Amidst the whirlwind of activity, we are mindful of the true meaning of Christmas:
John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.
