I’ve posted before about Kevin Leman’s famous Birth Order Book. Well, although Miles is only 18 months old, he’s already showing the typical 3rd child characteristics. Charming, social, funny, and… he thinks the world revolves around him!
Why? You might ask…
It’s because we all dote on him. ALL of us. Even his brothers. Miles thinks it’s funny to grab hold of your hair and pull as hard as he can. Mind you, he only does this with family. We’ve convinced ourselves this behavior must me a term of endearment to him. He also likes to “bump” head with us. Hard enough that I see stars. But, after our initial “Ouch!!” we chuckle and let him go his merry way.
Chad and I used to commiserate about both being firstborn. We shook our heads when our moms would do laundry for our twenty+ year old younger brothers. I think I was doing our family’s laundry when I was 14!!
Now we have a different perspective. We already see ourselves falling into this trap. Would we let Colin watch shows when he was 18 months? Rarely. How about Davis? Rarely. Now Miles sits in his chair, points at the TV and demands, “SHOW!!” And we sometimes give in…
