This was one of our best Christmases!! We missed Papa and Gram-Gram very much but the boys loved every minute of the day. Would you believe that they stayed in their PJs all day??!!
It was a relaxing Christmas since we were at home. Poppy and Grammie were very kind and came to our house for Christmas brunch so that the boys didn’t have to stop playing with their new toys. I remember that it was like torture to open presents on Christmas morning and then have to leave for some relatives house. So the boys had the whole day to enjoy their gifts!
Colin was beside himself when he opened his airport Lego set. His expression was priceless and I’m so glad we caught it on camera! He had been asking for this set all year. The last thing we want in our home is something with more pieces but the look of delight on Colin’s face made it worth it.
Davis asked for a “Dawn Treader” since we had just seen the movie. Unfortunately, the movie didn’t inspire any toys so we couldn’t find one. A couple of weeks before Christmas, Chad spied Imaginex toy ship that looked just like it! It was perfect and Davis had his “Dawn Treader” ship on Christmas morning. He also had some pretty cool planes and a racetrack!
Miles loved everything he got but was especially enamored with his “Scout” puppy. He calls it “Woof-Woof” and got a kick out of the fact that it said his name. I actually had to connect this toy (for babies, mind you!!) to my laptop via a hidden USB port and program it with his name, favorite music, and favorite food!! Unbelievable… He also enjoyed playing with the little squeaky animals from Poppy and Grammie. Until he got mad at me pointing a camera at him… the photo below cracks me up!
We had fun using the Santa Tracker 2010 app on our iPhones again this year. Although we do not play up “Santa” and instead try to focus on Jesus’s birth, the boys love seeing Santa’s flight path and reading his updates. What a cool app!
Here are some other fun photos from the day. My favorite is the page from a book called “DOGS” that the grandparents got for Miles. Too funny!
We measure our lives by Christmases. This one seemed to come too quickly on the heels of the last one. While I love Christmas and it is my favorite holiday, I’m always a little nostalgic as I reflect on the past year and anticipate what lies ahead. BUT… I know that God is good and that He holds us in the palm of His hand.
Now on to 2011!!!!
