I know, I know — the official name isn’t Smythe Lake; it’s the “Lake at Smythe Park” until it can be officially named.

Regardless of what you call it, we have all come to love this very special area of Daniel Island. With meandering trails, lush gardens and towering oaks (that are lit at night) the lake takes on a magical aura. When we moved from Codner’s Ferry Park to Smythe, the lake was a hole in the ground and our home was meant to be temporary while we built in Daniel Island Park. Fast forward ten years and the finished product far exceeds our wildest dreams!

Our family has a lot of wonderful memories in Smythe Park. The annual spring Concert in the Park is always a treat and the 4th of July fireworks (unofficial, of course!) are not to be missed. The sunrises and sunsets are spectacular and the fishing is mighty good as well! The great lawn is a great place for a game of pick up football or to work on your golf swing. Pirate Park is a perennial favorite for all kids – just be prepared for them to be home with sandy shoes.

A truly great community has developed here over the years. We enjoy block parties with neighbors and are looking forward to the very first Smythe Lake Pumpkin Walk on October 24th. If you’re a fellow resident, join our Facebook Group to keep up with Smythe Park happenings!
