The Daniel Island Performing Arts Center (DiPAC) will be a landmark, state-of-the-art facility featuring a 550-600-seat Proscenium Theatre, rehearsal halls, and spaces for social events and meetings. It will be a performing arts facility focused on educating and inspiring Charleston residents and visitors with powerful performances in drama, music, and dance. In addition to offering a variety of performances, all of our resident organizations will have educational opportunities for children and adults, beginner to advanced.
The Daniel Island PAC site is on Island Park Drive, centrally located for easy accessibility. The overall design of the Performing Arts Center and its surroundings ensures that the community gets positive economic impact with minimal toll on the infrastructure. This location allows visitors to easily patronize established island businesses and to draw in new retail and dining establishments. As an example, the Barter Theatre in Abingdon, VA — a community 20% smaller than Daniel Island — generates an annual economic impact for Abingdon of $34 million in revenue and 495 jobs based on a recent study.
The gorgeous theatre is anticipated to break ground in Spring 2018 with the first season to begin in 2019.
