New Charleston Restaurants

If there’s one question we hear from friends, clients, and family members, it’s “where should I eat right now?” With the revolving door of restaurant openings and closures, it can be dizzying trying to keep up with the many restaurants our city has come to know and love. We’ve rounded up some of the newest restaurants to try this fall. No matter where you go, we’re sure you’ll walk away well fed and with a new date night favorite!

Butcher and Boar

730 Coleman Blvd, Mt Pleasant

Recently opened in the former Southern Season, Butcher and Boar opened to the public in late-August and features a high-end selection of steaks, charcuterie boards, and a lengthy wine list. The restaurant has undertaken a massive renovation from the former retail space and features two private rooms, a cocktail lounge, wall-to-wall bar, formal dining room, smokehouse, outside cigar lounge, and a patio that can sit 120 guests. Now that’s a spacious restaurant! The Charleston location is the second location from this Minneapolis brand and we’re sure it’ll make quite a splash here in Charleston.

Nana’s Uptown

5117 Dorchester Rd, North Charleston

A downtown gem, Nana’s Seafood and Soul has expanded with a second location! Nana’s Uptown can be found in North Charleston and will feature a similar menu as their flagship downtown location, but with more of an emphasis on seafood as opposed to soul food.

Baker & Brewer

94 Stuart St, Charleston

Cult favorite (and ours too!) EVO Pizzeria has paired up with Holy City Brewing to bring craft pizzas and beer to downtown with newly opened Baker & Brewer. Located in the former DeSano Pizza Bakery, Baker & Brewer is slinging only the best pizza and beer in the Eastside of Charleston. Look for fan favorites such as the Pork Trifecta and seasonal specials. Take advantage of the fall weather by relaxing on the breezy patio or grab a seat by the wood-burning stoves inside once winter pays us a visit (even if it’s only for a week or two!).

708 King St, Charleston

If there’s one thing we love is a pretty restaurant! Maison is just that and brings a fun French flair to their location in the Upper King District. With a seasonal menu in rotation and a flourishing wine menu, there’s always something for everyone! Located next to Little Jack’s Tavern, Leon’s Oyster Shop, and Melfie’s, you know that Maison is certainly in good company when it comes to food.

721 King St, Charleston

Speaking of Melfi’s, if you haven’t tried this new Italian eatery, you’re missing out! The product of culinary geniuses, Tim Mink and Brooks Reitz, Melfi’s is teeming with unique pizzas, pastas, and a to die for tiramisu that you certainly cannot pass up. Cozy up on date night in one of the plush leather booths or enjoy a glass of wine with friends during happy hour at their bar. No matter where you sit, the ambiance is one of relaxation and enjoyment.

33 Spring St, Charleston

Our friends at Bin 156 are at it again! With the success of their other ventures, including Bin 152 and Chez Nous, Fanny and Patrick Panella are transporting Charlestonians to Spain for delightful evening of Spanish food and wine. Malagon features a beautiful array of tapas and wine. Just make sure you make a reservation, even for the bar, at this incredibly popular restaurant!

Kwei Fei

1977 Maybank Hwy, Charleston

New restaurants aren’t just opening around the Charleston Peninsula! Sichuan restaurant Kwei Fei is certainly not for the faint of heart. With a variety of traditional Chinese dishes that vary in spicyiess, this James Island favorite has been eagerly anticipating a brick and mortar location. Make sure you try their lamb dumplings or spicy noodles.

The Royal Tern

3005 Maybank Hwy, Johns Island

Sleepy Johns Island isn’t immune to restaurant openings. If anything, they’re starting to come alive with their own booming neighborhoods and restaurants! The Royal Tern is the newest addition to the island and is becoming a popular destination for all. Featuring a seafood-based menu of tuna crudo, wood-fired oysters, and barbeque shrimp, The Royal Tern is a sight to behold. With a beautiful interior complete with modern design, you’ll be wowed from the moment you walk through the doors!
