Since 2000, Daniel Island has hosted the annual Family Circle Cup tennis event. It is the largest women-only tournament in the world and attracts over 70 athletes each year, including the famous Williams sisters and Maria Sharapova in years past. This year Andrea Petkovic is returning to the court, as well as some new players including World No. 9, Angelique Kerber and World No. 10, Ekaterina Makarova.
