Colin and Davis have been involved in a lot of sports since they were about 3. I don’t remember doing anything organized until I was ten or so? Maybe things are different for boys… I don’t know. They’ve played flag football, basketball, soccer, t-ball, tennis, and golf. They are also great swimmers. In spite of all these sporting opportunities, neither one has really latched on to one sport. Again, they are only 7 and 6 so maybe that comes later. Colin was swimming laps with great form when he was 4 so I thought he’d be a swimmer. However, the sport that seems to have captured him is golf. Mr. Michael Smith (our club‘s Teaching and Playing Professional) is totally awesome when it comes to teaching kids. Both the boys have done two years of summer golf camp with Mr. Smith. Colin became part of his weekday clinic this fall and became really excited about golf. Mostly the weather is beautiful but they’ve played in the cold and in strong wind. Not once has Colin complained. He LOVES learning golf with Michael Smith. His time on the course has really improved his game and now Colin is always itching to go out if his Daddy or Poppy are playing. I’m sure Davis won’t be too far behind! I’m thankful to live in a place where the boys can do this type of thing year round. I just looked at a friend’s Facebook photos of her home in Minnesota (completely covered in snow) and was reminded of how blessed I am to live in Charleston!!
