Spring is slowly making its way to Charleston, and we couldn’t be more excited! With warmer months approaching, the desire to refresh your space may awaken. Thankfully, you don’t need to completely overhaul your space to give a fresher feel this spring! We’ve rounded up our favorite tips to give a room in your home a new look that can easily be accomplished in a weekend.
Add Some Flowers
Spring is a great time to start introducing flowers back into your space. They’re inexpensive, easy, and can instantly make your space look brighter and more inviting. We love grabbing small bouquets of flowers, or eucalyptus for the bathroom, at Trader Joe’s or Publix. For less than $5, flowers can make a big difference in a room!
Add a Blanket
Admit it, you’ve got blankets hiding in closets don’t you? Shake them off and bring them out into a room! A blanket draped over a sofa or bed makes it feel more homey and cozy. Add a simple spritz of freshener to give it a lighter smell.
Hang New Artwork
Add an instant dose of color by hanging new pieces of art around your home! Hang lighter more colorful pieces and remove any darker pieces.
Add a Light
Is one corner of your home looking a little dark? Brighten it up by adding a table or standing lamp! Banish any darkness by lighting up your space and bringing in a lighter, more airy feel into your home. Spring is all about light, so why not brighten up your home with a nice lamp?
Add a Scent
Nothing makes a room feel fresh and new than by introducing a new scent into the space. Spritz the room with a light fabric freshener or light one of your favorite candles. Candles in calming scents like lavender, cinnamon, or fresh linen can calm and destress after a long day. We love candles by Bath and Body Works and Candlefish!
Open the Windows
Let in the sunshine! Replace your heavier drapes and curtains with lighter fabrics and color for the warmer weather. By swapping out darker fabrics with lighter ones, your room will look bigger and brighter. If it’s a warm day, open a window or two to let your home ‘air out’ and let that soft spring air circulate throughout the house. Take this time to also clean both the inside and outside of your windows for optimum sunlight!
Update your Accessories
Just as if you’d add a necklace or scarf to an outfit, your home loves to be accessorized as well. Consider replacing or swapping out pillows or decor for something more colorful.
Add a Bowl of Fruit
An easy way to make a kitchen look more inviting is by simply adding a bowl of fruit! Display your favorite bowl full of oranges, limes, and lemons for a colorful (and useful) display! Consider adding new dish towels or a water pitcher to your kitchen as well.
