Here are my resolutions for 2011:

  1. Be intentional. Enjoy the present. I’ve written about this before but I really want to focus on it this year. I don’t want to spend my life waiting. For the weekend, next vacation, summer, fall, etc. I want to enjoy where God has placed me NOW. In this moment.
  2. Read the entire Bible. I’ve done this before but haven’t made a concerted, cover-to-cover effort. I love to journal (can’t you tell?!) and I want to write my thoughts, questions, and revelations.
  3. Answer the phone when it rings. I have to admit it. I hate talking on the phone. I don’t know why. It doesn’t matter who is on the other end of the line. This year, if I’m in a position where it’s appropriate to do so, I want to answer the phone when it rings. I just don’t want to violate Resolution 1 and become one of those people who answers the phone when they’re with others.
  4. Exercise. Ugh. Another thing that I don’t enjoy. I know there are great benefits to exercise. More energy, better sleep quality, better moods, stronger bones, etc. etc. I want to be a Mom who is engaged and active. So… I resolve to exercise more than I did in 2010. Which wasn’t much…
  5. Reconnect with family and old friends. There are people in my life that I love dearly. I just never talk to them. This probably goes back to Resolution 3. They’re far from here and I have to talk to them on the phone. Life is short. I need to reconnect with them personally. Not on Facebook, Twitter, or blogging…
  6. Say “yes” to my boys more then “no”. I know this sounds trite. Like something every mom would put on her list. But I sincerely mean it. These guys are my life! In “training them up in the way they should go (Proverbs 22:6)”, there is room for lots of grace. My default answer is “no”. It’s usually not for any good reason. It may be because something is messy, time-consuming, or just plain not what I feel like doing. Sometimes those excuses are valid. From now on, though, I want them to be the exception, not the norm. Unless there’s a really good reason to say “no”, I want to say, “YES!!”
  7. Blog at least twice a week. I did a pretty good job with this until I had Miles.
