Daniel Island is well known for its luxurious homes and gorgeous setting, but there’s more to this quiet island located in the center of the metro Charleston area. MUSC Health Stadium

Soccer enthusiasts rejoice! The MUSC Health Stadium is home to the Charleston Battery, Charleston’s premier local soccer team. The stadium hosts fun evenings for families and you can catch a stellar sunset from the stands. Additionally, the Zac Brown Band has held their fabled Southern Ground Festival in this location twice! Combine these great events with the Movies on the Field series and this spot is a favorite for  locals and visitors alike.

 

Family Circle Tennis Center

Known for the Charleston Open (now known as the Volvo Car Open), the Family Circle Tennis Center is the best place to watch some of the top tennis players during the tournament held on Daniel Island. When tennis isn’t in full swing on the island, you can catch top musical acts each year like Jimmy Buffet, Florida Georgia Line, and Hootie and the Blowfish’s Annual Homegrown concerts.

Blondie’s Bagels and Cafe

Dine like a local and grab breakfast at one of the island’s favorite cafes: Blondie’s Bagels! This gourmet coffee shop is always packed with locals munching on delightful bagels, a seasonal lunch menu, or sipping gourmet coffee drinks. This coffee shop is the ideal spot for those looking to meet with friends or steal a few hours away to work.

Sermet’s Courtyard

If you’re looking for a unique take on Southern-fare, you won’t want to miss Sermet’s. Sermet’s takes Mediterranean techniques and blends them carefully with Southern ingredients. Dine underneath large live oaks while listening to live music, this relaxed eatery is ideal for date nights or those seeking to escape it all.

Farmers’ Market 

The 9th season of the Daniel Island Farmers' Market is in full swing and brings Daniel Island customers the freshest produce from local farms.

Support your local Daniel Island community by stopping by the Daniel Island Farmer’s Market! Here you’ll find local farmers selling their fresh, organic vegetables that change each season. Located at the Refuel on Seven Farms Drive, you can relax on the porch at Refuel and listen to local musicians while sipping a glass of wine.

Smythe Park 

You won’t want to miss Smythe Park. This expansive and beautiful park features an 11-acre lake, winding walking trails, and scenic picnic areas. Walk along the quiet neighborhood streets and you’ll be amazed by the stunning homes that grace the area. If you enjoy kayaking or paddle boarding, you can do so in the lake or take a short walk to the Wando River.

Shark Tooth Beach
Who doesn’t enjoy a day discovering shark teeth on the beach? Take a short boat ride to Shark Teeth Beach, well named for its shark teeth, and you’ll discover handfuls of shark teeth of various shapes and sizes along this gorgeous beach. Take a picnic lunch for yourself and family and relaxing on this calm, private beach before heading back to Daniel Island.
Bellinger Island
Tucked away at the edge of Daniel Island you’ll find the pristine and small nature preserve known as Bellinger Island. Bellinger Island is perfect for those that enjoy a day on the water surrounded by nature at its finest. You’ll see others enjoying the waterways by kayaking or paddle boarding. If you take your kayak or paddle board out during sunset, you’ll witness incredible sunsets that’ll leave you in awe.
H.L. Hunley

Take a peek of history at the H.L. Hunley museum which hosts the first combat submarine to sink a warship during the Civil War. The submarine was lost in 1864 and wasn’t found again 1995. Finally located in 1995, the H.L. Hunley was raised in 2000 and is now on display at the Warren Lasch Conservation Center, located a short 15 minute drive from Daniel Island, where scientists try to find out how she was sunk and why she was lost for so long. This display is one all history buffs should see!
